About Mary For over 50 years, Mary Johnson has lived and worked in Midlothian, Virginia, enjoying her life in this area where her creativity and passion for teaching and learning continues to grow. Grateful for the many role models and instructors who have contributed to her success, she is a committed participant in the visual arts field, both in the professional community and in her personal instruction.
Her passion for and skill in acrylic painting is evident in her many works. As her unique interpretations, subject matter and techniques have become recognizable, several of her paintings have recently been purchased by local collectors. Mary’s instructional style can best be described as realistic drawing and acrylic painting. Her goal is to teach a quality program from which students enjoy learning the skills necessary to draw, paint, and create. She provides a warm and friendly environment helping, encouraging, and challenging each student to reach his or her individual, artistic potential. Mary’s deepest reward in teaching is watching her students’ confidence grow as their creative abilities mature.
